The B-farm project consists of a floating apiary located among the sandbanks of the Venice lagoon. The main objective is to facilitate pollination of the sandbanks by bees and to produce high-quality honey. The floating structure includes a honey production laboratory and a separate educational area to inform the public about the importance of bees and sandbanks in the lagoon ecosystem. The floating modules with beehives provide a safe environment for bees to carry out their important pollination role. The presence of honey bees contributes to local biodiversity and supports the survival of many plant and animal species that depend on pollination. Visitors can have an engaging and interactive experience in the educational area, taste the sandbank honey produced by the bees, and participate in interactive games that raise awareness about the importance of bees and sandbanks. It is hoped that visitors will gain greater respect and understanding for bees and discover the important role they play in environmental protection.
“We welcome you to our house on the water, where nature and learning come together to create a better future for bees, sandbanks, and all of us. Welcome to B-Farm, the beating heart of sustainable beekeeping in the Venice Lagoon.”
